EDUCATION: Theodore High School, 1976; University of South Alabama, B.A. Degree, 1980; University of Alabama School of Law, J.D. Degree (law degree), 1983.

PRACTICE OF LAW: Admitted to practice before all Alabama courts in 1983; U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama, 1984; United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, 1984; and Supreme Court of the United States, 1988.

In private practice of law in Mobile from 1983 through 2012; served as Special Judge of the Mobile County District Court; and elected as Mobile County Circuit Court Judge in 2012.

PRESENT LEGAL MEMBERSHIPS: Alabama Bar Association, Mobile Bar Association, and Executive Committee of the Alabama Law Institute.

CIVIC AND PUBLIC SERVICE: Elected to the Alabama State Senate (District 35, south Mobile County) in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 (served in State Senate from 2006 through 2012 and was Co-Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee); elected to the Mobile City Council in 2001 and re-elected without opposition in 2005 (served on the Mobile City Council from 2001 to 2006 and was Chairman of the Finance Committee); Member of the U.S.S. Alabama Battleship Commission; Past President of the Mobile Art Museum; Little League Coach at Theodore Athletic Association for 6 years; and member of Cypress Shores Baptist Church.
